Chalk Talk

Terms of use

Last updated October 27, 2026 · hello@teamchalktalk.com

The short version
  • Coaches, parents and players 13 and older make their own accounts. Players under 13 only ever get a sign-in that a parent makes.
  • What you put in Chalk Talk stays yours. We show it to the people you share it with, and nobody else.
  • Plans are one-time passes, not subscriptions. Cancel any time and the unused whole months come back.
  • Be decent to each other in the team chat. We'll step in if someone isn't.

Who it's for

Chalk Talk (teamchalktalk.com) is a play board and team hub for coaches, and a team app for the families on their teams. By making an account or using the site you agree to these terms and to the Privacy Policy.

Your account

Keep your password to yourself and tell us if you think someone else has it. You're responsible for what's done with your account. One person per account: a team's coaches each make their own and join with the team's join code.

A team's join code and join link let anyone who has them become a coach on the team and change its playbook, so give them only to your coaching staff. You can make a new code any time from the Coaches tab.

Your team's content

The plays, notes, rosters, schedules, stats, messages, photos and files you and your team put into Chalk Talk belong to you and your team. You give us permission to store them and to show them to the people you share them with: your team's coaches, the families on the team, and anyone you send a player link to. We don't use your content for anything else, and we don't sell it or share it with advertisers.

Coach notes are seen only by a team's coaches. A play you share with your club, or with every coach on Chalk Talk, is shown to them without your name or your players' names.

Before posting a photo of players in the team chat, make sure the families are fine with it. A coach can remove any message or photo from the team's chat.

A player link, team link, stats link or goalie link opens for anyone who has it. The page asks for nothing and keeps nothing about who is watching. Because anyone with the link can see the play, put first names or numbers in the circles rather than anything you wouldn't want seen, and turn a link off from the board when you no longer want it to work.

Being decent

The team chat and private messages are for the team. Don't use Chalk Talk to harass, threaten or embarrass anyone, to share someone else's personal information, to send spam, or to get into a team you're not on. Don't try to break the site, scrape it, or get around its limits. If an account does any of this we can remove the content, take the account off a team, or close it.

The AI features

Some features use an AI model to make a first draft for you: the email writer, game recaps, drawing a play from words or from a photo of a whiteboard, and reading a tournament's schedule from its page. What you type or upload for those, together with the team facts you ask it to use, is sent to Anthropic's API to make the draft, and the result comes back to you. We don't keep the photos, and the content isn't used to train models. You check and own what comes back; it's a draft, not a decision. Each team has a daily allowance for these features. Don't paste passwords or other secrets into them.

Plans and payments

Chalk Talk is free to use with the board and up to 3 saved plays per team. The Team and Team Pro plans are one-time passes for a season (four months) or a year (twelve months); the Club plan covers every team in a club for a year, priced per team. New teams get a free week of Team Pro, with nothing to pay and nothing to cancel.

Passes don't renew by themselves: you get an email before one ends, and you buy the next one when you want it. Prices are in US dollars, and sales tax is added where it applies. Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see or store your card number. Coaches on a team can split a pass between them. Refunds are described in the Refund Policy: cancel any time from the Plan tab and the unused whole months come back.

Ending things

You can delete your account any time: coaches under the team button → You, parents from the parent page, players from their page. Deleting a team deletes its plays, links, notes, schedule, stats and messages for everyone on it. A head coach with other coaches on the team makes one of them head coach first, or deletes the team.

We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. If we ever need to stop a feature or the service, we'll give coaches notice by email and a way to get their content out first (step sheets, calendar files and exports).

The service as it is

We work hard to keep Chalk Talk up, fast and backed up, but we can't promise it will never be down or never have a bug, and we're not responsible for a game plan, a schedule or a message that didn't get through. To the extent the law allows, Chalk Talk is provided as it is, we're not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Changes and contact

If these terms change in a way that matters, we'll email coaches before the change takes effect and update the date at the top of this page. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland, USA.
