Chalk Talk
Privacy Policy
Last updated October 27, 2026 · hello@teamchalktalk.com
- We keep only what the team needs: names, emails for the adults, first names and numbers for players, and what coaches and families enter.
- No ads, no selling data, no trackers. Player links ask for nothing and keep nothing.
- Players under 13 never make an account. A parent adds them, sees everything kept about them, and can delete it any time.
- Delete a player, a team or your whole account whenever you like.

What we keep
Coaches
Your name, email and password (stored hashed, never readable), the teams you're on, and what you put into them: plays, coach notes, the roster (first names, numbers, positions, graduation class), the schedule, games and stats, opponents and scouting notes, practice plans, messages and photos in the team chat, emails you send to the team, volunteer lists, carpools, your team and club logos, and your plan and payment records. Stripe keeps card details; we keep only what it tells us (what was bought, when, and the last four digits of the card).
Parents
Your name, email and password, the players you add (first name, number, and when you agreed to add them), the stats you enter at games, your Going / Can't answers, carpool offers, your questions to the coach and their answers, and your messages in the team chat.
Players 13 and older
Your first name, email and password, your number, your quiz results, the stats entered for you, your practice log and goals, the coach's assessments, your messages in the team chat, and a recruiting profile only if you make one and choose to share it.
Players under 13
Only what a parent enters: a first name, a number, and the results and stats that come from using Chalk Talk. If a parent makes the player a sign-in, it's a username and a password with no email. See Children's privacy.
Anyone opening a player link
Nothing. A play link, team link, stats link or goalie link doesn't ask who you are, sets no cookies and keeps nothing about the visit.
On your device
The site keeps a few things in your browser's storage so it works well: your light-or-dark choice, the team you last opened, a draft of the play on the board, and, in the team app, a copy of the schedule and any taps or messages waiting to send while you have no signal. These stay on your device.
Who sees what
- A team's coaches see everything on their team: the roster, stats, messages, families' answers, and the questions families ask. Coach notes are seen only by coaches.
- A player and their parents see that player's results, stats, questions and answers, and the team's schedule and chat.
- The team chat is seen by everyone on the team: coaches, parents and players. A private chat is seen by the people in it and the coaches it was sent to.
- Club directors see the teams in their club.
- Chalk Talk's site admin (the person who runs Chalk Talk) can see teams, coaches and plays in order to run the service and answer help requests, and never shares them.
- A play shared with other coaches (your club's playbook, or the library every coach sees) is shown without your name or your players' names.
What we don't do
No advertising, no selling or renting data, no third-party analytics or tracking scripts, and no profiling. We don't read your messages except when you report a problem with one. We set no cookies ourselves; your sign-in is kept in your browser's storage by our sign-in provider and goes nowhere else.
Children's privacy
Chalk Talk is built so that players under 13 never need an account, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13 without a parent or guardian:
- A parent makes the account, agrees to add their player, and types a first name and a number. That's all a coach's roster needs too.
- If a parent wants the player to open plays and quizzes on their own device, the parent makes a sign-in with a username and a password; no email, and nothing the player types is shared beyond their coaches and parents. The parent decides whether that sign-in can enter stats and ask the coach.
- A parent can see everything kept about their player and delete it, along with the sign-in, at any time from the parent page. The coach approves the player onto the team and can take them off.
- Players 13 and older may make their own account with an email. A coach's player sign-up link asks their age first.
If we learn that a child under 13 made an account on their own, we delete it. Parents with questions can write to hello@teamchalktalk.com.
The services we use
Chalk Talk runs on a small number of services, each used only for what's listed:
- Supabase stores the data and handles sign-in and passwords.
- Cloudflare serves the website.
- Stripe takes payments. Your card details go to Stripe, not to us.
- Resend sends our emails.
- Anthropic provides the AI model behind the email writer, game recaps, drawing a play from words or a photo, and reading a tournament schedule. What you send for a draft goes to Anthropic's API to make that draft and isn't used to train models; we don't keep the photos.
- Apple, Google and Mozilla push services deliver phone alerts if you turn them on. We keep the device's alert address so we can send to it, and delete it when you turn alerts off.
- The tournament websites you link: when you paste a schedule link, we read that public page to find your games.
Emails and alerts
We send a welcome when you make an account; account emails about your free trial, plans and payments, and replies to your help requests; and, when your team's plan includes them, reminders the day before a game or practice and notes when a tournament schedule changes. Every reminder and account email has a link to change which ones you get. Phone alerts for messages, game day and schedule changes are off until you turn them on in the team app, and you can turn them off there any time.
Keeping and deleting
We keep your information for as long as your account or your team exists. You can delete:
- A player, with everything kept about them: a parent from the parent page, a player 13 or older from their page, or a coach from the roster.
- A team, with its plays, links, notes, schedule, stats and messages: the head coach, under Team settings.
- Your account: coaches under the team button → You, parents and players from their pages. A head coach with other coaches on the team hands it over or deletes it first.
Deleted data is gone from the live service right away and leaves our backups as they roll off, within 30 days. Payment records are kept for as long as tax and accounting rules require.
Security
Everything travels over HTTPS. Access rules in the database decide who can see each row, so a team's data is reachable only by the people on that team. Passwords are hashed by our sign-in provider. Links for players and parents are long random tokens that you can turn off from the dashboard, and turning a link off stops it working right away. If you find a security problem, please tell us at hello@teamchalktalk.com.
Your choices
You can see and change what's kept about you from your own pages, get your team's content out (step sheets, calendar files and exports), and delete it as described above. If you'd like a copy of your information or help with any of this, email us and we'll do it within a few days.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll email coaches and parents before the change takes effect and update the date at the top. Questions, requests or concerns: hello@teamchalktalk.com, or the Help page when you're signed in.
